From day one of our cinema program, you’ll be immersed in the craft of filmmaking. You’ll jump right in and immediately get your hands on key equipment used by industry professionals to start creating projects for your portfolio right away.

CHOOSE YOUR EMPHASIS

Earning your BFA with us? Explore your passions and amplify your talents in a specific area with one of our emphasis options.

• Cinematography – Create moods and enhance storytelling through the mastery of lighting and camera techniques. Learn to shoot in studios and on location, collaborating with fellow students on commercials, films, and more.
• Directing – Develop skills for directing fiction or documentary film and television, including script analysis, communicating with actors, and guiding crews through every stage of production from pre- to post-production.
• Editing – Be the one who brings the raw materials of film together to create a finished product. Learn to edit footage, visual effects and sound.
• Producing – Gain skills for the business of filmmaking, with skills for pitching projects, securing deals, and ensuring creative teams have the resources they need to bring stories to life.
• Acting – Build skills that enable you to become a storyteller behind and in front of the camera through classes that explore interpretation, voice, movement and character development.
• Screenwriting – It all begins with a story. Explore your creativity and generate ideas while learning to write professional screenplays for a variety of formats. This emphasis also covers working with agents, pitching stories, submitting spec scripts, and navigating business deals.
• Sound –Put sound to work in the service of story with professional skills for designing, recording, producing and mixing musical scores and soundtracks, including sound effects.
